7 — Enclosure and Container Components

Container components
Recognize lid, hinges, wheels, sidewalls, drains and visible signs of deterioration without testing mechanical operation.
Site components
Common enclosure elements include gates, fences/walls, pavement, roofs and nearby drainage.
Maintenance observations
A loose gate, broken lid, visible rust or damaged pavement may warrant owner review; do not assign cause or regulatory status without authorized assessment.
Practice scenario
A container lid appears bent from a publicly accessible viewpoint. Photograph its visible condition and avoid touching or attempting repair.
Knowledge check
Does a missing roof automatically mean the site is illegal?
Recommended answer: No. Applicable requirements and approvals vary by jurisdiction and circumstances.
