What an Adopt-A-Dumpster™ Municipal Pilot Can Look Like

Adopt-A-Dumpster™ is a nonprofit community-engagement and environmental-education program focused on commercial waste areas, stormwater awareness, sponsorship, documentation and measurable public participation.

What the pilot is

A municipal pilot is a defined local program in which Secure Structure Alliance works with interested municipal staff, community partners, sponsors and participating properties to test a repeatable education and participation model around commercial waste areas.

What the pilot is not

  • It is not a municipal enforcement program.
  • It does not replace permits, inspections, local codes or MS4 obligations.
  • It does not certify a property as compliant.
  • It does not give Secure Structure Alliance regulatory authority.
  • It does not require a city to purchase a for-profit product.

Possible pilot elements

  1. Kickoff and local program scope.
  2. A manageable pilot area or voluntary participant group.
  3. Educational outreach for businesses and the public.
  4. Sponsor recruitment where appropriate.
  5. Waste-area observations and documentation within the agreed nonprofit scope.
  6. QR and digital engagement tools.
  7. Public-support and participation tracking.
  8. Before-and-after documentation where appropriate.
  9. Summary reporting and lessons learned.

What can be measured

Suggested measures include participating locations, supporters and subscribers, sponsor participation, municipal or agency engagement, educational resource views or QR scans, documented maintenance or improvement actions, community outreach reach and before-and-after site documentation where appropriate.

At the end of a defined pilot, Secure Structure Alliance can produce a concise summary of participation, activities, lessons learned, documented outcomes and recommended next steps.
