Adopt-A-Dumpster Is Live: How Temecula Can Get Involved
Adopt-A-Dumpster™ is now open for public participation following its October 19, 2026 launch. The program, operated by Secure Structure Alliance Inc., is inviting Temecula-area community members to notice commercial dumpster-area problems, learn how rain can carry litter and other pollutants toward storm drains, and get involved in practical solutions. Observations are reviewed before any location or improvement is counted as verified.
Why dumpster areas matter before the rain
Open lids, wet cardboard, overflowing bins and damaged enclosures can turn an ordinary trash service area into a maintenance and stormwater concern. The solution starts with practical steps: close the lid, keep materials contained, report damage and consider a covered enclosure where appropriate. Our free educational resources explain these issues for businesses, property managers and community members.
Four ways to participate now
- Property owners and managers: add or claim your dumpster site at no cost. Upload the requested site photos privately, choose your public-recognition preference and access the free Dumpster Care Starter Kit. A site claim does not promise a free retrofit or inspection.
- Local businesses and founding sponsors: ask about sponsoring outreach and eligible site improvements. Recognition and reporting depend on confirmed participation and documented work, not advance promises.
- Residents and volunteers: help document a dumpster area or join the volunteer effort. Community observations are reviewed before being counted as verified sites.
- Municipal and water-quality teams: explore the city pilot approach, including voluntary education, owner engagement and privacy-conscious reporting. A proposed pilot is not a claim of official city sponsorship.
Privacy first, measurable work next
The community map is designed to show generalized activity unless a property owner explicitly approves public site recognition. Owner names, exact private locations and site photos are not published just because someone submits a form. We will report verified activity as it becomes available and distinguish proposed projects from completed improvements.

The first step is participation, not a promise that every location will immediately receive construction or funding. Tell us how you want to help through the contact form, become a founding sponsor or support the nonprofit program.
