Why this resource matters
Letters of commitment can help demonstrate real community interest to funders, grant reviewers and prospective partners. The public sample is intentionally straightforward and should not be used to imply a city endorsement, procurement commitment or regulatory approval.
Key points
- Use the sample to show the kind of support language a partner can provide.
- Keep the letter accurate to the signer’s actual level of commitment.
- Do not add claims about purchasing, endorsement, permitting or regulatory approval unless the signer has specifically authorized them.
- A letter of commitment is different from a sponsorship agreement, donation restriction or municipal MOU.
